What is RevOps (Revenue Operations)
RevOps (Revenue Operations) is an approach that connects marketing, sales and customer care into one system with shared data, processes and metrics. The goal is to manage the entire path to revenue as one whole instead of three separate functions. In large companies RevOps is a standalone department, in smaller ones a management principle.
Why RevOps came about
RevOps is an organisational answer to a problem every B2B company knows: marketing, sales and customer care work with their own data, their own metrics and their own plans, even though they serve one and the same customer on one journey. Every boundary between them is a place where information, leads and responsibility get lost.
Revenue Operations says: the path to revenue is one process, so let us manage it as one process. Specifically this means three layers:
- One set of data. A shared CRM and one version of the truth about the customer, from the first touch to contract renewal.
- One set of processes. A shared definition of the funnel stages, qualification (MQL and SQL), handovers and forecast.
- One set of metrics. Conversion and contribution to revenue measured across functions, not by department. An end to the situation where marketing celebrates the number of leads and sales misses the plan.
The direction is confirmed by analysts' predictions too: Gartner estimated that by 2025 the RevOps model would be adopted by 75 % of the world's fastest-growing companies.
RevOps for companies that cannot afford RevOps
In companies from hundreds of people up, RevOps is a standalone department with its own leadership. A Czech B2B company of 20 to 250 people will not build an extra department - and rightly so. But the principle applies to it too, just in a simpler form.
What RevOps solves with structure, a smaller company solves with ownership: one person or connected leadership with authority over both marketing and sales, one definition of a qualified lead, one report everyone looks at, and one strategy from the campaign to the signature. No new function, no extra software - just an end to the dual rule over one path to revenue.
In other words: RevOps is not about a department, it is about revenue having one steward. Large companies set up a team for it. Smaller companies have it easier - they just have to want it.

Frequently asked questions
What does RevOps do in practice?
It unifies data and tools (one CRM, one truth about the customer), defines shared processes (qualification, handovers, forecast) and shared metrics across marketing, sales and customer success. It removes the places where functions toss responsibility to each other.
Does a company up to 250 people need a RevOps department?
A department no, the principle yes. A smaller company does not need a RevOps team, it needs one owner of the whole funnel: a shared definition of a lead, one report and one strategy across marketing and sales. That can be achieved through connected leadership of both functions.
What is the difference between RevOps and sales operations?
Sales operations supports sales only: CRM, reporting, the sales team's processes. RevOps covers sales, marketing and customer care together - it is sales ops extended to the whole path to revenue.
